After four years on the SIU men's basketball team, Jamaal Foster decided not to take advantage of an extra season of eligibility that he had due to redshirting his true freshman season.
This meant that Foster's career on the hardwood was over, but his time at SIU certainly wasn't.

Even though that it is almost three months until Saluki Coach Chris Lowery starts the official practices for the 2009-2010 men’s basketball season, the Saluki coach found himself coaching in a different role than he is used to during the offseason.
Lowery, who is entering his sixth year as the Salukis’ coach, recently returned from overseas where he was serving as an assistant coach for the United States U-19 Team in the FIBA World Championships. Lowery joined ...

As expected, Marcus Belcher has been named as the newest assistant on Chris Lowery's coaching staff. Lowery made the announcement this past week. Belcher will replace longtime assistant Rodney Watson who left for the University of Southern Indiana last month.
With the addition, the Salukis now have four former players on the staff. Belcher joins Brad Korn, Tony Young, and of course Lowery on the bench. Lance Irvin, who did not play at Southern, is also an assistant.

Paul Lusk left SIU with Matt Painter five years to take a job on Purdue’s staff. Lusk is of course a former Saluki player and assistant coach. Before this season, Painter gave Lusk the title of Associate Head Coach.
Now, as the 2009 season is wrapping up, many head coaching jobs are becoming available across the country. These jobs range from high profile “BCS” jobs, to mid-major jobs. The question is: Should Lusk...
